When I began working with wellness practitioners and green businesses over fifteen years ago to create their homes on the internet, I believed there was no client I couldn’t help. The more the merrier, so the adage goes. Soon, however, I learned the lessons of another adage: be careful what you wish for.
Relationship requires connection
It didn’t take long to discover that shared interests in holistic and green living doesn’t guarantee for a good or effective working relationship. A good working relationship requires connection, which simply being human doesn’t guarantee, but when it’s there, it’s powerful. And it’s essential.
“Invisible threads are the strongest ties.” – Friedrich Nietzsche
Connection is power
The philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche said of connection, “invisible threads are the strongest ties,” a sentiment that applies to business as well and personal connections. In fact, with my clients the lines between business and personal connections have lost their traditional boundaries, as the intimacy of our work together more often than not creates lasting friendships.
Can we connect?
Many wellness practitioners I work with talk about how they need patients who see their relationship as a partnership, rather than doctor-patient. The same is true for Holistic Digital Media Consulting. For me to most effectively help you translate what you do for the online environment, we need a working partnership. Meaning, I can help you to tell your story, but I can’t tell your story for you. If that rings true for you, then we have seeds for connection.
